RY on October 25 had a MERLIN at Lowell and Academy in=20
Albuquerque.=20
JG on October 25 at Otero Canyon south of Tijeras found=20
several GOLDEN-CROWNED KINGLETS and two TOWNSEND=E2=80=99S SOLITAIRES.=20
JP on October 25 saw 23 CACKLING GEESE at the Rio Grande =20
Nature Center in Albuquerque. CD on October 30 reported a =20
first winter BONAPARTE=E2=80=99S GULL and a WESTERN GREBE at the =20
center.=20
BG had single female BLACK-CHINNED HUMMINGBIRDS at his =20
North Valley feeders on October 29 through November 2.=20
One feeder was put up at the Crest House on October 27 =20
for the the ROSY FINCHES, and right away two BLACKS and =20
two GRAY-CROWNED appeared, an early date.=20

In Chaves County:=20
JSa on the Bitter Lake Refuge near Roswell count of October =20
22 reported 66 SNOW GEESE, 10,983 SANDHILL CRANES in the area, =20
and a WESTERN GREBE.=20

In Curry County:=20
JLo on November 3-4 at his home in southeast Curry Co. =20
had two LONG-EARED OWLS (photo) with a HORNED OWL, six=20
PYRRHULOXIAS, and a YELLOW-SHAFTED FLICKER, with CRANES=20
passing by daily. Also there was a few cranes just west of =20
the Walmart Store in Clovis on November 3.=20

In Do=C3=B1a Ana County:=20
On October 31 JZ and MS at their home near Radium Spings=20
had an immature GOSHAWK that may have been present for two=20
weeks.=20
JZ on October 20 along Hope Road in Las Cruces found an =20
ACORN WOODPECKER (photo), five SCRUB JAYS, and a =20
RED-BREASTED NUTHATCH. In that area on November 3 DG had =20
two late LESSER NIGHTHAWKS.=20
In the southern Do=C3=B1a Ana Mts. on November 1 DG saw four =20
WHITE-THROATED SWIFTS, WESTERN BLUEBIRDS, an ANNA=E2=80=99S =20
HUMMINGBIRD, and nine SAGE SPARROWS,=20
DG at his Las Cruces home on October 25 had a WHITE-THROATED =20
SPARROW, with the immature ANNA=E2=80=99S HUMMINGBIRD present October 21=
=20
to 27; two to three SCRUB JAYS and JUNCOS seen daily. A female =20
BROAD-TAILED HUMMINGBIRD was seen October 30 and a HERMIT THRUSH =20
on October 29. The Anna=E2=80=99s was seen till November 1 with the =20
Broad-tailed, scrub jays, Juncos, PINE SISKINS, one AMERICAN =20
GOLDFINCH were seen till November 4. 63 ROBINS were present on =20
November 2.=20
At Swan Pond near Leasburg DG on October 23 found an =20
EASTERN PHOEBE, up to six SNIPES, and a TREE SWALLOW.=20

In Eddy County:=20
SW hiked the Delaware River south of Malaga and recorded on=20
October 31 a CATTLE EGRET and an OSPREY.=20
At Rattlesnake Springs on October 24 JP, WW, and JO had a =20
YELLOW-BELLIED SAPSUCKER immature and two SWAMP SPARROWS with =20
two more sapsuckers at the adjacent Washington Ranch.=20

In Hidalgo County:=20
DC reported that at Rusty=E2=80=99s RV Park north of Rodeo on NM=20
80 an ANNA=E2=80=99S HUMMINGBIRD present from November 1 to 4.=20
In Guadalupe Canyon on October 31 DC had two BLACK-CAPPED=20
GNATCATCHERS on the eastern half of the NM public area.=20
ChB on October 27 in Clanton Canyon in the Peloncillos=20
had four to six MONTEZUMA QUAIL. He had in a flooded =20
orchard 1.5 miles west of Cotton City along Church Street a =20
LEWIS=E2=80=99S WOODPECKER, several INCA DOVES, and one RUDDY GROUND-=20
DOVE.=20
County Hwy.1 south of Animas crosses the Diamond A (=20
Gray) Ranch. Because of events with thoughtless birders, =20
one must NOT go off the road.=20

In Luna County:=20
ChB on October 26 at Pancho Villa SP near Columbus saw =20
SCOTT=E2=80=99S ORIOLES. RC and WH on October 26 had a pair of =20
LAWRENCE=E2=80=99S GOLDFINCHES there.=20
LM on October 19 and November 2 had a MOORHEN at the Pecan =20
Park ponds in Deming. On October 25 at Spring Canyon State =20
Park near Deming he saw an ANNA=E2=80=99S HUMMINGBIRD, WESTERN BLUEBIRDS,=
=20
TOWNSEND=E2=80=99S SOLITAIRES, a SAGE THRASHER, and a TOWNSEND=E2=80=99S=
=20
WARBLER.=20
At the Deming sewage ponds=E2=80=99 northwest corner on October 30 =20
and Again on November 2 LM had a WHITE-TAILED KITE.=20

SW and TH on October 27 on Otero Mesa had a suckleyi=20
MERLIN near Alamo Mt., three PRAIRIE FALCONS, MOUNTAIN and =20
WESTERN BLUEBIRDS.=20
JO on October 25 reported two RED PHALAROPES at the=20
main pond of the Holloman Lakes.=20
DG contacted the biologist at Holloman AFB on the =20
Holloman closures. There is a beetle infestation at Lagoon =20
G that they are trying to rid, and they don=E2=80=99t want anyone =20
to spread them. One can walk past the gate to Stinky Lake, =20
but not drive in and can still bird there. Contact David =20
Griffin at 575-32-200 for more details.=20

CR on October 24 at the migrant trap west of Melrose on =20
US 60 had a red (zaboria?) FOX SPARROW, a YELLOW-SHAFTED =20
FLICKER, with MOUNTAIN CHICKADEES, GOLDEN-KINGLETS and a=20
CASSIN=E2=80=99S FINCH. On October 23 JP, WW, and JO saw a female =20
MOUNTAIN BLUEBIRD, two TOWNSEND=E2=80=99S SOLITAIRES, and one kinglet.=20

ChB on November 3 at Morgan Lake west of Farmington=20
saw two GREATER SCAUPS and three COMMON LOONS.=20

BF had a MERLIN at the Casa Solana area of Santa Fe on =20

JB on October 30-31 had a late female RUFOUS HUMMINGBIRD =20
at his Santa Fe feeders.=20

tan-striped WHITE-THROATED SPARROW.=20
