a  sub-adult GOLDEN EAGLE, several GOLDEN-CROWNED KINGLETS,=20
and  two TOWNSEND=E2=80=99S SOLITAIRES.=20
JP on October 25 saw 23 CACKLING GEESE at  the Rio Grande =20
Nature  Center in Albuquerque.  CD on  October 30 reported a =20
first  winter BONAPARTE=E2=80=99S GULL and a WESTERN GREBE at the =20
center.=20
BG had single female BLACK-CHINNED  HUMMINGBIRDS at his =20
North  Valley feeders on October 29 and 31.=20
At the Tramway/Roy Wetlands RE on October 26 saw seven =20
AVOCETS.=20
One feeder was put up at the Crest House  on October 27 =20
for  the the ROSY FINCHES, and right away two BLACKS and =20
two  GRAY-CROWNED appeared, an early date.=20

JSa on the Bitter Lake Refuge near  Roswell count of October =20
22  reported 66 SNOW GEESE, 10,983 SANDHILL CRANES in the area, =20
a  WESTERN GREBE, three BLACK-BELLIED PLOVERS, one LONG-BILLED =20
CURLEW, and one RED-NECKED PHALAROPE.=20

In  Do=C3=B1a Ana County:=20
JZ on October 20 along Hope Road in Las  Cruces found =20
26  SANDHILL CRANES, an ACORN WOODPECKER (photo), seven =20
WESTERN BLUEBIRDS, five SCRUB JAYS, and a RED-BREASTED =20
NUTHATCH.=20
DG at his Las Cruces home on October 25  had a WHITE-THROATED =20
SPARROW, with the ANNA=E2=80=99S HUMMINGBIRD present October 21 to 27; =20
and a  BARN OWL on October 17; an EASTERN MEADOWLARK from October =20
20 to  27; two to three SCRUB JAYS and JUNCOS seen daily; and =20
nine  CEDAR WAXWINGS on October 20.  The  immature Anna=E2=80=99s was =20
still  seen On October 30, as was a scrub jay and up to six =20
juncos.  A Female  BROAD-TAILED HUMMINGBIRD was seen October =20
30 and  a HERMIT THRUSH on October 29.=20
At Swan Pond near  Leasburg DG on October 23 found an =20
EASTERN PHOEBE, up to six SNIPES,  a MEXICAN DUCK, SORA, and a =20
TREE SWALLOW.  On October 26 there was a  SNIPE.=20

In  Eddy County:=20
SW hiked the Delaware River south of  Malaga and recorded on=20
October 31 a CATTLE EGRET and an OSPREY.=20
At Rattlesnake Springs on October 24 JP,  WW, and JO had a =20
YELLOW-BELLIED SAPSUCKER immature and two SWAMP SPARROWS with =20
two  more sapsuckers at the adjacent Washington Ranch.=20
At Brantley Lake north of Carlsbad JP,  WW, and JO had the =20
BLACK-BELLIED PLOVER on October 24.=20

In  Hidalgo County:=20
ChB on October 27 in Clanton Canyon in the Peloncillos=20
had four to six MONTEZUMA QUAIL.  He had two ABERT=E2=80=99S=20
TOWHEES at the San Simon Cienega; in a flooded orchard 1.5 =20
miles  west of Cotton City there was a LEWIS=E2=80=99S WOODPECKER, =20
several INCA DOVES, and one RUDDY GROUND-DOVE slong Church =20
Street.=20
County Hwy.1 south of Animas crosses the  Diamond A (=20
Gray) Ranch.  Because  of events with thoughtless birders, =20
one  must NOT go off the road.=20

In  Luna County:=20
ChB on October 26 at Pancho Villa SP near  Columbus saw =20
SCOTT=E2=80=99S ORIOLES and a late female HERMIT WARBLER.  RC and =20
WH on  October 26 had a pair of LAWRENCE=E2=80=99S GOLDFINCHES.=20
LM on October 19 had a MOORHEN at the  Pecan Park ponds =20
in  Deming.  On October 25 at Spring  Canyon State Park near=20
Deming  he saw an ANNA=E2=80=99S HUMMINGBIRD, WESTERN BLUEBIRDS, =20
TOWNSEND=E2=80=99S SOLITAIRES, a SAGE THRASHER, and a TOWNSEND=E2=80=99S=

In  Otero County:=20
SW and TH on October 27 on Otero Mesa had  a suckleyi=20
MERLIN  near Alamo Mt., three PRAIRIE FALCONS, a GOLDEN =20
EAGLE,  MOUNTAIN and WESTERN BLUEBIRDS.=20
JO on October 25 reported two RED  PHALAROPES at the=20
main  pond of the Holloman Lakes.=20
DG contacted the biologist at Holloman  AFB on the =20
Holloman closures.  There is a beetle infestation at Lagoon =20
G that  they are trying to rid, and they don=E2=80=99t want anyone =20
to  spread them.  One can walk past the  gate to Stinky Lake, =20
but  not drive in and can still bird there.  Contact David =20

In  Roosevelt County:=20
CR on October 24 at the migrant trap west  of Melrose on =20
US 60  in the morning had a red (zaboria?) FOX SPARROW, an=20
immature female TOWNSEND=E2=80=99S WARBLER, a YELLOW-SHAFTED  FLICKER,=20
a  CASSIN=E2=80=99S SPARROW, with MOUNTAIN CHICKADEES, GOLDEN-CROWNED =20
KINGLETS, and a CASSIN=E2=80=99S FINCH.  Later in the afternoon there =20
was  also a NASHVILLE and a male BLUE-WINGED WARBLERS.  On =20
October 23 JP, WW, and JO saw a female MOUNTAIN BLUEBIRD, =20
two  TOWNSEND=E2=80=99S SOLITAIRES, and one kinglet.=20

In  Santa Fe County:=20
BF had a MERLIN at the Casa Solana area  of Santa Fe on =20
October 31. =20
JB on October 30-31 had  a late female RUFOUS HUMMINGBIRD =20
at his  Santa Fe feeders.=20
JB on October 15 had a WHITE-FRONTED  GOOSE at the Santa =20
Fe  Canyon Preserve.  It was seen by SF  and a tour October 17.=20

At North Monticello Point of Elephant  Butte Lake on October=20
25 RC  and WH had a PEREGRINE.=20
At Percha Dam State Park CB and MH on  October 17 saw a CATBIRD, =20
NASHVILLE WARBLER, and two INCA DOVES.  ChB on October 27 in the =20
north  woods had a late immature ZONE-TAILED HAWK.  RC and WH on=20
October 25 had a BROWN CREEPER and many GOLDEN-CROWNED  KINGLETS.=20
On October 17 at the Paseo del Rio Park  below the dam NH =20
and CB  had an immature MOORHEN, a BRIDLED TITMOUSE, and a =20
BAND-TAILED PIGEON.=20

TR on October 29 saw a white bird in a  large blackbird flock =20
at  Bosque del Apache Refuge south of San Antonio.=20

MBe at Sawmill Pass north of Red River on  October 22 had two =20
GRAY  JAYS at 10,000 feet.=20
ST had a COLLARED DOVE in Taos on October  30.=20
