rt was recorded on Thursday, February 23........A DOUBLE-CRESTED CORMORANT =
was seen flying across Deerfoot Trail from Pearce Estate in Calgary on Frid=
ay, February 17. The bird was reported by Gavin McKinnon; the species had n=
ot been reported yet in the Winter season.........Seven TRUMPETER SWANS wer=
e observed flying over a house in northeast Okotoks on Sunday, February 19;

Donna Jones-Noble saw the birds..these birds are very early Spring returnee=
s. Another Swan, unidentified, was seen flying up the Bow River in southeas=
t Calgary by Jim Davis on Wednesday, February 22......Ken Orich and David S=
cott reported 4 SNOW GEESE just north of Ridge Reservoir near Milk River on=
 Sunday, February 19.......Late overwintering waterfowl reported in Calgary=
 recently included the Pied-billed Grebe at Carburn Park seen by Jay Vander=
gaast on Wednesday, February 22, while, John Thompson observed 2 GADWALL th=
ere the same day. Terry Korolyk saw 2 hybrid Common-Barrow's Goldeneye belo=
w the Carseland Weir on Tuesday, February 21, while one of the female Canva=
sbacks; and the male Ring-necked Duck were seen at a wetland just east of E=
lliston Park in southeast Calgary on Sunday, February 19; the birds were se=
en by Blake Weis. Four male and 3 female NORTHERN SHOVELERS were reported o=
n the Bow River at the Pine Creek Sewage Treatment Plant in south Calgary, =
also on Sunday, February 19; the species had not been reported in Alberta p=
reviously this Winter season. Rick Robb reported a male Lesser Scaup at Car=
burn Park on Wednesday, February 15..............Michelle Stewart reported =
a Cooper's Hawk in northwest Calgary on Saturday, February 16, while, the F=
riends of Fish Creek saw another at Bebo Grove in west Fish Creek PP in Cal=
gary on Friday, February 17. Northern Saw Whet Owl reports included a bird =
seen by Bernard Tremblay at Confederation Park in northwest Calgary on Wedn=
esday, February 8, while, Nicole Pellerin reported one in the Weaselhead in=
 the west end of Glenmore Reservoir in Calgary on Friday, February 10. Terr=
y Korolyk and members of a Nature Calgary field Trip found at least 10 Snow=
y Owls on Saturday, February 18 in the Sthrathmore-Cheadle area...........T=
erry Korolyk found a flock of 2000 Snow Buntings on Sunday, February 12 on =
240 Street 3 kms. south of Highway 549 southwest of Millarville, while, Lau=
ra Bentley, on Feb. 12. photographed a largely albinistic Canada Goose near=
