My reporting area includes all of Lehigh and Northampton Counties with the 
northern edge of the area reaching Beltzville State Park and the southern 
edge reaching Peace Valley Park in Bucks County.  Updates are typically done 
every Friday, more often when necessary.

The next Audubon program will be held on January 13th at 7:00 PM at the 
Wildlands Conservancy in Emmaus.  Scott Burnet will do a program on 
“Identifying Winter Waterfowl”.

There will be a field trip to local lakes for winter waterfowl on January 
14th.  Meet at the east parking lot of Cedar Creek Parkway, near the Cedar 
Beach Pool in Allentown at 8:00 AM.  Trip leader will be Scott Burnet.

Sightings from the MARTINS CREEK ENVIRONMENTAL PRESERVE (Tekening) area, 
Northampton County:
Spotted Sandpiper – 1 from 12/11 to at least 1/2.

Sightings from the EASTON area, Northampton County:
BARROW’S GOLDENEYE – 1 from 12/26 to at least 1/4 (female; along the 
Delaware River north of Easton).
Eastern Phoebe – 1 on 12/31 (at the roadside stop north of Easton).
Also Common Goldeneye.

Sightings from the NAZARETH QUARRY, Northampton County:
Snow Geese – ~50,000 on 12/31
ROSS’S GOOSE – 1 on 12/31
Cackling Goose – 1 on 12/31
CANVASBACK – 1 on 12/31
REDHEADS – 5 on 12/31.
Also Gadwall, American Wigeon, Ruddy Duck, Pied-billed Grebe, and Peregrine 
Falcon.

Sightings from the GLENDON area, Northampton County:
At the Chain Dam:
ICELAND GULL – 1 on 1/2 (adult; fly-by).

Sightings from WILLIAMS TOWNSHIP, Northampton County:
Pine Warbler – 1 from 12/27 to at least 1/1.

Sightings from the COPLAY area, Lehigh County:
At the Sheetz Quarry:
GREATER WHITE-FRONTED GEESE – 2 on 1/1
ROSS’S GOOSE – 1 on 1/1.

Sightings from the FOGELSVILLE QUARRY, Lehigh County:
GREATER WHITE-FRONTED GOOSE – 1 on 12/30.

Sightings from GREEN LANE RESERVOIR, Montgomery County:
At the Walt Road area:
LONG-TAILED DUCKS – 2 on 1/4
Double-crested Cormorants – 2 on 1/2.
Also Common Goldeneye.

Sightings from LAKE NOCKAMIXON, Bucks County:
LONG-TAILED DUCKS – 5 on 1/5.

Sightings from PEACE VALLEY PARK, Bucks County:
GREATER WHITE-FRONTED GEESE – 1 to at least 1/4; 2 on 12/27
Cackling Geese – up to 3 to at least 1/4
CANVASBACK – 1 on 12/26
Red-breasted Mergansers – 2 on 12/27
ICELAND GULLS – 2 on 12/30
Lesser Black-backed Gulls – ~200 on 12/28.

Red-breasted Nuthatches continued to be reported from several sites this 
past week.
